Purpose

Tools for Looking into the Brain is a mini series all about methods used in (neuro)science research. We created this series in collaboration with Scientifica, leading suppliers of electrophysiology equipment and expertise. Through this series we explore the key and state-of-the-art techniques that are used in the field of neuroscience, but also used across scientific disciplines, such as those used to record the electrical activity of cells (electrophysiology) and to visualise cells, proteins, or even genes (imaging). So far we've covered topics including patch-clamp recordings, large-scale in vivo electrophysiology, fluorescence and two-photon imaging, and have had a number of expert guest speakers. This is an ongoing project, so look out for more episodes to come.
